Ever your faithful cheerleader, it has come to my attention that some (many) people think that 2009 was not a fantastic year. Yes, even those who live in the same house that I live in were not impressed with the year. I will be your glass half full person today...so let me begin by agreeing that it was not the most impressive of years, but it wasn't that bad either. First of all, for those who blog, it has been a year to learn new everything, and share what we have learned with, well, everyone. I have made new blog friends...real, flesh and blood friends from blogs that I stumbled upon. We have learned the value of the junk in our basements and attics, thanks to those savvy enough to educate, and we have learned how to reuse, redecorate and recycle said junk. We have learned about new flowers and plants and have been given ideas as to how to appreciate them. We have been blessed with some of the best recipes from some of the most real chefs...the moms and dads who actually cook and bake on a daily basis, trying to please the pickiest in the family. I personally have been challenged to be more organized, set a more interesting table, appreciate the world in color, and in black and white, and to generally have the nerve to step out of my box and try new things. I have been taken on virtual trips to cities that I thought I knew, and beaches that I have never seen. My favorite bloggers have taught me to be more girly, have an edge, use more color, be more defined, see things differently, and all around be more daring...if you can do it, maybe I can too.
I am optimistic for the coming year, and very excited to see what positive new changes may come my way. I am looking forward to starting the 2010 gardens, both veggie and floral.
I am planning to have our entire house repainted, over the course of the year ...
choosing paint colors as we speak.
I am hoping to walk even more often on the treadmill and
read even more books while I walk. (My plan to walk everyday for 2009 was in actuality walking on average 3 or 4 days a week...better than not walking at all, and I have managed to read 16 books this year.) I am very excited to meet more of the bloggers who I have been following, and keep up with new ideas, new trends, and what ever else you brilliant writers come up with. I am looking forward to more antiquing, flea marketing, and yard saling, with new lists of what I am searching for, and an open mind to find the unique and unusual.
If there are any resolutions bouncing around in my brain right now, they are to keep an open mind, enjoy every day, and appreciate all that has been offered me. I hope to spend the year sharing more wonderful things and experiences with all of you, and leaving more comments to let you know how special and interesting you really are. To the non bloggers, I want you to know that I love hearing from you and enjoy reading your comments and emails. I am hoping to spend more time in the coming year with relatives, especially all of my fun and fabulous sisters-in-law, and maybe get them to actually read my blog regularly. (aside to Beth, who does keep up with this blog...thank you...you are a shining light on the family tree) There is great anticipation and excitement ahead for all of us in 2010....I wish you all a very happy, healthy and optimistic new year.
