Last week, my oldest daughter and I had lunch at the beach. The Jersey Shore was given a brief reprieve on the weather front, and the sun came out. We were treated to clear blue skies and a warm sunny day. A true lover of Hawaii, and all things coconut, I found a small restaurant called Shaka right near the beach in Long Branch New Jersey.
We were both very happy to get out, and she especially enjoyed having her day off from work.
She ordered the fish bowl which is a mixture of fresh fish, rice, spices, coconut and pineapple.
I ordered the shrimp taco, also graced with coconut and pineapple, and the veggie burrito...seriously delicious! Laura, if you are reading this, Shaka is right up your alley, and Jenna if you are reading this...I promise to take you as soon as you come home.
The sky was such a beautiful shade of blue that day and the Atlantic Ocean was tranquil with the waves just rolling in. A few days later,
this very same beach was equally beautiful, but with a completely different pallet of blues and grays.
I like the shades of blue and gray and sand on this day.
This weekend we had an awful storm, and I fear that much of that sandy beach may be washed away. Mother Nature is just amazing, like a warm happy hug one day, and a force to be reckoned with the next.

I took some photos on Sat. during the storm, but you really can't see how rough the water is, not how high the tide was in those photos.
The difference in the sky photos is amazing- One is so cheery, and the other, so mysterious almost.

Hi Susan!
I flew home from Colorado yesterday on the red eye, after spending a week with my son and DIL and grandson -- it was a wonderful visit and went by way too fast! The little guy is walking and talking and was so much fun to play with -- I already miss him so much!
Long Branch is such a pretty beach and it looks like you had a wonderful lunch with your very pretty daughter! I'd love to try all that delicious food!

Oh, I'm reading it sister! ;-) (Better late than never.) Before I even got to that part of the post I was thinking, "OOO!! Can't wait to check this place out!" We passed Long Branch on our way to the Highlands this weekend and my friend Jim and I decided we'd do a nice bike ride and check out what's there. IF IT EVER STOPS RAINING!
