Holidays often bring out the best in whimsical and fantasticly imaginative decor. While out and about last week, I found things that were share-worthy. First, at Shutters in Fair Haven, I came upon this picture of a seagull and this sign in the shop. So loved them both, and would enjoy seeing them in the new office...maybe. There was this sign
that tempted me, but alas, I was not decorating for the holiday this year...might run in to see if it goes on sale after the holiday though.
Then there were all of these goodies...is there anything better than living at the Jersey Shore at the start of beach season?? I am sure the answer was a resounding yes...living at______ fill in the blank. This is such a wonderful time of year though.
We found ourselves at Sickles Market in Little Silver yesterday, and although we were there for some fresh produce and baked goods, we wandered through the greenhouse....and what did we find?? These amazing Orchid Cacti! My husband was so taken with these plants that he bought us the hot pink specimen in the center of the mosaic. It is absolutely stunning and quite other-worldly. It is being hung in the new office that I showed in the previous post...for a room in shades of pale blue, taupe and gray, it is a wow pop of color.
We also were quite taken with the blueness of these orchids ....just amazed really. So much so that we had to ask if they were naturally this color...of course the answer was no...but how amazing just the same and what would inspire someone to want an orchid of this shade of blue? It reminded me of Beauty and the Beast and the blue rose of the impossible. Or perhaps it was the possible...when the beast turns back to human form he gives Belle....the blue rose. So romantic!
This post is being linked to Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday, Little Red House for Mosaic Monday, and Smiling Sally's for Blue Monday.

Thanks for answering my unasked question about whether the orchids were naturally that blue. Even though they are not, they are stunning and I love them.

Wow, those blue orchids are amazing, even if they aren't naturally blue! The pink orchid cacti are beautiful too. And the seagull painting with the "bird with a fry" art make a perfect pair :-)

Hi there! Hope you had a fabulous weekend. I didn't know beach season started so early. Wow! I've never been to the Jersey Shore, but it is on the bucket list thanks to that reality TV show. My curiosity has been piqued! :-) Thanks for stopping by my blog this morning. I so appreciate it! It's raining cats & dogs here, so I'm going back to bed! :-) Have a great week!!!

Alycia, Just wanted you to know that the show Jersey Shore is a complete misrepresentation of the real Jersey Shore. Although the boardwalk areas are loads of fun with rides and great food, the shore is a calmer, more family oriented place and the beaches are beautiful!

Susan, I always love your posts. That sign is great!
You know, I saw some of these blue orchids in Publix the other day and was taken aback. I didn't know if they were "real" or not, so I'm glad to know the answser on that. They were fascinating.
I'm glad you dropped by to see my wedding post. I really don't have a special tie, but it was fun meeting Charles Spencer. I had a hard time talking because I was so mesmerized. Dumbstruck might be another word for it. But I did have a chance to tell him that I adored his sister. I'm just thrilled for Prince William and Kate. They seem so in love, and they seem so solid. It's a truly joyous occassion.
XO,
Sheila :-)

I sure hope to travel around New Jersey this year and see the shore! It's been awhile. It must be nice to live there year-round.

No; there is nothing better. In my humble opinion. :-)
But those BLUE orchids...gah!!! I love them. I haven't been to Sickles in a long while and need to get there. The (free!) Tri City News always has a coupon...would be great to use to, say, buy an orchid!
