Our Community Garden had it's opening day today as well, but I missed it...Communion Saturday it was for so many of our friends and family.

Oh, I just love community gardens! There is one not far from us, but all of the plots are spoken for. However, there is talk of starting one just down the road from us where half of the food produced will be donated to families in need. I hope to get in on that project.

We had a community garden plot for a few years in Floyd Bennett's Field =- part of Gateway National Park in Brooklyn. It was fun, but the weevils ate my green beans and the aphids ate my tomatoes, and the squirrels ate my eggplants..lol Now I plant my meager crops in pots in my all cement backyard. I have better pest control that way. :-)
