There is something very cathartic to clearing out the holiday decor. At first, there is a strange, empty feeling that comes through the lack of vibrant color and glitzy, eye filling brightness which is now missing in the public rooms of the house. The kitchen is now back to its black and white simplicity, with the muted butter yellow the only real color in the room. 
              The living room  has been swept of the happy, baubled trees and the reds and greens have been put away for another year. The Swedish Christmas Tomtes are the last to be packed into their container, and the berry wreath will go with them this week...for some reason, this little bit of fantasy is the most difficult for me to put away.
                There are little signs though, that there are other things to look forward to. These pretty pink tulips, have graced the dining room table since New Years Eve, and are just a breath of what the next season will bring us.
                    This week, the mantle will be cleared, to make way for some much needed seashore decor. These seashells will once again take center stage to remind us of the  warmer, sunnier days ahead. In the meantime, stay warm and dream of sand between your toes.

I sighed with relief when my husband finally agreed to take the boxes of holiday decor back up to the attic yesterday. After awhile it's sort of depressing looking at all the glitz, ya know?
