If I have to clean the house, chances are, something is going to be redecorated, redirected, or repurposed. There is no question that I am a fickle woman who will change her surroundings at the drop of a hat....or more likely, the change of a season. Just when I have fallen in love with an area of the house, the rug, literally will be pulled out from underneath, and moved to a different room. Let's take the bedroom for an example...this is what the bed looked like in the summer. Light greens and pretty pillows made from vintage barkcloth by Pat, aka The perfect pie lady. I absolutely love these pillows,
and decorated the room with blue and lavender accessories
for a cool and soothing pallet. Months later, Autumn comes in and the days shorten, and the bedroom suddenly looks like this.
The quilt is in shades of cream and mocha, with red velvet accessories.
The pillows were found on ebay several years ago, and add an air of Bohemian attitude to what is usually a calm and soothing room. After Valentines day the bedding will be changed to something entirely different once again.
Rhondi, of the Rose Colored Glasses blog is having a Pillow Party today. Rhondi's blog is always fun to visit. She has a love of decorating that is light and happy, and the pillows that have been featured today really make a difference in the decor of a room. Here are a few other pillows that have been tossed around our house... In the living room, you will find neutral colors.
The Yak pillows were more of a surprise decorating feature than a planned purchase.
The larger one was a prize that I won at a PTA fund raiser, and the smaller one was an on sale find at
a local store. The sofa has two
of these feather filled linen pillows.
The other chair in the living room sports a pillow that picks up on all of the neutral linens and greens in the room. The last three pillows were all found at Marshall's a few years ago. Our den,
has a pair of handmade vintage barkcloth pillows in the most wonderful shade of blue. I think it is the soft sculpture feel of the fabrics, the pillows and the throws that add character and comfort to our decor. The last pillow to show today sits out on the screened porch waiting for a warmer day to be enjoyed.
It was made by my friend Suzy Spence of Georgia Peachez blog, a few years ago. It adds that perfect whimsical touch to the white wicker rocking chair.
This post is also being linked to Susans blog, Between Naps on the Porch for her Metamorphosis Monday link. My ever changing bedscape is the metamorphosis for today. Stop by her blog and see what all of the other changes are about. I am also linking this post to Smiling Sally's Blue Monday links for the blue in all of the pillows.

Well Susan, you are truly a Pillow Person! Happy Blue Monday.

I love Suzy's stuff as well. I sure like seeing blooms where here there is none (alive anyway). You know I'm just as bad. If I'm going to clean, something is going to get rearranged! I wonder what it is about that?

Brenda, I used to have a theory that the urge to re-decorate-arrange-etc. was hormonally driven...but now that I am not, I have doubts about that theory...,maybe we are just fickle.

When shopping in a department store I am often drawn to the pillows. I rarely buy them...just because I don't need more...but oh there are so many beautiful ones out there.
I'll bet those yak pillows are soft.
I loved the last one on the rocking chair. Very nice.

Pillows can make a room, that for sure. And if you like to redecorate, they are a frugal way to make a big statement. Your pillows run the gamut. Fun, beautiful and funky! Love all of them, especially the shaggy chubaka pillow!!!

Susan you have a wonderful collection of pillows! I am sadly deficient in that area. I shall keep my eye open this year for some pretty ones to add some needed pizazz to my decorating.

Hi Susan
You have so many interesting types of pillows and I think you get the prize for the most interesting ones...yak pillows? They are so fun looking.
Thanks for joining the party!

Isn't is amazing how pillows can change a room. They just make it feel more pulled together. I too have the rearranging fickle disorder. Although, not as much as I used to. Usually, if I am giving a room a good cleaning, it is going to look like I did something ;)
Blessings to you.

I am always changing things up too--I keep thinking I will stop because I think I have finally got it just the way I want it. I do change pictures and move furniture and change the paint color and things like that every so often or for new seasons. BUT perhaps one day I won't, perhaps ;-)

Love all your pillows. The beauty of having a neutral bedspread...you can change the looks very effectively with very little effort!

I love pillows!! They are the easiest way to change the total look of a room without spending a lot of money (jeez...I sounded like Martha Stewart just now! ;-).
BY the way...I did meet Laura at Plum Cottage -- almost mentioned in my post that since her name is Laura clearly she is wonderful. But I thought that may be a little much, lol! I was in Red Bank a few weeks back to take Mike to the river to help pull a boat out of the water...and when I dropped him he said it would be about 45 minutes until they got it out on the other side of the river. Sweet. :-)

Thanks for the peek at your cozy pillow collection. You've shown me how changing pillows can really change the look of a room.
