For a person like me, a collector of vintage aluminum, happening upon Silver Sunday last week was like finding a gold mine. Beth, who writes the blog, Gypsy Fish, invites us to a show and tell about our silver goodies on Sundays.
This week, I am featuring a silver heart in a vintage carnival glass bowl. The heart was a Valentines day gift, years ago and the bowl was a yard sale find. In the spirit of Valentives day and things romantic, this wine bucket is from the Alsatian region of France. We vacationed in that area several years ago, touring the Rue de Vin and some wonderful medieval villages. It was a very memorable vacation for us. The wine bucket sits on a galleried bar tray that is vintage hammered aluminum. Staying with the silver theme, this painting shows a lovely display of aluminum wine sipping cups called tastevins that a Sommelier would wear around their neck. The reflection of a woman in a painting, painted in the mirror is such a romantic notion to me. I found this painting at a yard sale a few summers ago, and it now hangs in our dining room. To round out our Silver Sunday, I thought you might enjoy this tarnished silver glittered moose. You just don't see these very often. Next to the moose is a vintage candelabra made by the Everlast Company. It is part of my hammered aluminum collection in the Bali Bamboo pattern. One of the things that I always found funny about this piece is if you have three candles burning the handle on top is pretty much useless. Just an observation as I went to move it one warm summer night when we had been sitting on the back porch sipping wine...why the handle?...maybe it is just me who finds humor in this. Eventually, I plan to write more about the Bali Bamboo pattern and how it was used by so many designers and decorators in the midcentury era.
I am so happy that Ms. Gypsy Fish has decided to continue her Silver Sunday link up...now I am off to see what other silver treasures have been dug up this week.

What a great idea that you thought of a painting! I don't think I have much of silver around here. But now I shall go look at my paintings to see if I actually do. These pieces are beautiful.
