"Lasts" are tough, especially as a mom. It's been awhile for me, of course. My daughter was a senior in high school when I was 34! But I do remember those times well. You'll find that you have so much time to focus on yourself. At first it's a little intimidating. But then it's actually exhilerating!

Hi Susan,
I was just posting for the Tablescape and thought I'd pop in to see yours before we went online. How Springtime! We don't have any children...yet...Yes I know I'm almost 50...but with God's sense of humor I never say never.....Change is scary , but good..and you can donate time to the school....if you have any after the dust settles. I also read your other post about August Wendell.I did not here about the fire. How terrible. Jim took me there on a weekend as a surprise. We do have one of thier factories here in Dover, Ohio..it's close to Canton...but not as big. I hope they're able to rebuild..it would be a great loss.

Carrie

What a lovely vintage tablecloth!

Jenna Ericson

Awww, Mommy... you brought tears to my eyes when you were talking about Brian graduating and the cookies. You can still make me cookies! And I love the daffodils.

Jenna Ericson

And you're not retiring... you're being promoted from high school mom to college mom!

Andrea at Opulent Cottage

I hope you enjoy these last few months of being a HS mom! I try to think of that every time I get overwhelmed by my responsibilities at our daughter's school. Your daughter's comment was so sweet!

Sheila

Susan, I love your bright pretty table with that vintage cloth! It's so happy and fun!

And I would love to try one of those delicious cookies. You know, they are always begging for volunteers in the schools. I was thinking. Even if your two are growing up, there are other children who would love to have you help in their classrooms. You've got so much love to give, and the schools are begging for volunteers. Me thinks that those might not be the last batch of cookies that will carry that notice. Something tells me there will be more! :-)

Happy Tablescape Thursday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Joni

I love your tablecloth and those blue goblets. Your posting makes me want to appreciate mine who are all still in school. Joni

Love that vintage tablecloth, but even more the beautiful aqua glasses...I have been looking for some that shade but so far have come up empty-handed.

susan ericson

Mimi, The glasses are vintage Fenton...you may be able to find some on ebay.

I love your tablecloth, so bright and cheery and perfect for spring!!

I felt the same way you did when my daughter graduated last year. I could have continued to volunteer but it wouldn't be the same. I still go to the craft bazaar at Christmas and everything looks so small!!

When my second son graduated from High School, I rejoiced! No more teacher conferences, no more fund raisers that no one wants to buy from you,no more parents that think that their kids can do no wrong! It does have it's pluses and for a full time working Mom like me, things got a lot easier!! Look forward to it!

Susan, for each "last", there will be many more wonderful "firsts". And though you have gone through the "firsts" with the other two, your baby will make it different for you. Trust me. (This is not to belittle the "lasts" and "firsts" with Jenna (just in case she is reading this!))
Shifting tides- that's all this is, and it "ain't" all bad!
