Movie or song titles come to mind...On a clear day, you can see forever...and I can see for miles and miles. Here is the view...
Please click on the picture to enlarge it. This picture was taken from a cliff in Atlantic Highlands New Jersey on what I considered to be a slightly smoggy day.
You are actually looking across Sandy Hook at the top of the Jersey Shore.
The beach looks to be deserted. The tip of the peninsula became the home of Fort Hancock in 1899. It remained a fortress until 1974. Many of the Georgian Revival buildings that served as homes to officers and their families can be seen today as well as concrete and cement pieces of the fort itself. I have always been awed by the 1665 acre peninsula, the beach both on the bay and Atlantic Ocean sides, but seeing it from the top of the bluff with New York City in the background really left me speechless.
This post is being linked to A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday. I hope that you enjoy this view as much as I did.
♥, Susan
Great views, I have heard of Sandy Hook, isn't there a National Wildlife refuge there.

Hi Sue....always love to see pictures of the Jersey shore...having NYC in the background is just an added plus...beautiful picture. And how funny to find a blueberry DumDum...I have never ever seen that flavor before maybe it is the Willy Wonka special one of a kind pop...Now if you could just find the winning lottery number you'll be in business...Oh, stop by my blog I just did a Jersey post that I'm sure your familiar with...

You got beautiful shots of Sandy Hook and NYC form that cliff, Sue! I could have been looking right back at you as there is a portion of Brooklyn's Belt Parkway where I can look across and see the Atlantic Highlands in the distance :)
When we fly into Kennedy Airport I often look out the window and see Sandy Hook as a landmark. I really have to take the ferry over one summer for a visit. I'd love to see the lighthouse and walk along the beach.
