It all began with a leaky stand-up shower in a decrepit, never updated little bathroom. Our upstairs bathroom, the one with the 50 year old linoleum floor and the shower that was unusable for so many years is finally being renovated. Now this alone could cause a bit of upheaval in a house, however, we have managed to find a way to create so much more chaos out of what could have been an organized redo. Here you see the "aged to perfection" linoleum floor and the missing shower stall in the soon to be worked on bathroom. You can also see a blue wall with brown paint on it, and a window taped off for the painting. So, this is what happened...Our youngest child, who is attending a local college decided that it was time for him to move from the upstairs "kids" bedroom area of the house to the downstairs adult friendly area.
In retrospect, I can see his issue...the upstairs bedrooms were created for little children and with them all young adults now, maybe it was time for some change. So, with the bathroom renovation comes the great migration...Mom and Dad are moving up in the world to the second floor where it may be a little quieter, and our children are moving down stairs. The room that will soon have the chocolate brown walls, the room that was our office, will now be our sons room. The den, with the cozy sofa and TV will now be our daughters room, and their bedrooms upstairs with the brightly colored ceiling fans and teenage decor will now be our domain. Needless to say, the house is a complete mess. Timing? You say, was it wise to do all of this before the holidays? I am asking myself that very question....the answer is yet to be re-veiled along with some hopefully smashing new decor...pray for my sanity....I think this might turn out great!

Wow Susan! This really is turning your house upside down! I know you'll like it all when it's done. Renovations are always messy so I think everyone will accept that the holidays will be less formal this year. I hope the kids are helping with all the work..don't overdo it yourself!
