Patience is not my strong suit...never has been, and waiting to finish decorating a room is pure madness for me. As stated in previous posts, we have undertaken a complete upstairs renovation.
Here are the before and after pictures. What was once a teenage girls bedroom and hang out is now the adult TV lounge and office space. Once a bright cheerful yellow room, it now has a cooler feel with the gray/blue paint color.
As you can see Pixie is quite sure that all of the redecorating was for her and her alone, however she is being kind enough to let us use the room too.
The paint color on the wall is Behr blue opal...it is a soft, quiet color that wraps itself around you and is very calm and comforting. The sofa was a larger sectional originally used in the den downstairs. We chose just to use the two end pieces in this new room. My desk fits into the alcove, and in the catty-cornered behind my desk is a favorite antique bookcase with a new found hutch on top of it. The hutch was a find from Shutters, and because I found so many wonderful new things there, I will be writing a new post about Shutters this week.
This is the view from my desktop,
and here is a view of the ceiling and light fixtures. At the other end of the room is a second desk/office area that my husband uses when he works from home. I am thrilled to have half the upstairs back and it is such a nice change to look out the windows and see the tree tops and the sky. Being able to have a place in the house for us to call our own when the "kids" are hanging out downstairs is just wonderful! Next job is to redo the bedroom and start tiling the bathroom...but having one room finished is so satisfying for now!

That is a great job. The color is so soothing. Happy that you have that new space. Our youngest daughter moved back home and I had to relocate my studio in the garage. Never know what will be next with a family.
