There are so many things to enjoy in December and I think the one that makes me most happy is seeing friends, family and coworkers who I haven't seen in a while. Look at the candle...just one more week till Christmas! This year our annual neighborhood party will be at a neighbors house...so all I had to do was bring a dessert.
I made an angel food cake and decorated it with royal icing that I colored with green and red food coloring. One candy cane crushed to smithereens was added to the top. Simple and fun, and a nice change from my usual repertoire.
This year I found lolly pops in swirls of red and green that were just perfect to decorate a tree. I hope they last another week...so far, no one has realized that they are edible.
Everything is ready to go...decorations are all up and even the characters usually relegated to the back of my closet have been pulled out for the festivities...now we are just waiting for daughter in the middle to come home from college on Wednesday! How are your holiday preparations coming along?
This post is being linked to Little Red House for Mosaic Monday, Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday and Smiling Sally for Blue Monday.

Love the swirly pops, I guess they won't last long once they realize they can eat them. Great looking cake, enjoy the festivities!
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Hi Susan!
Your cake looked yummy! Love the edible decorations on your tree.
I just returned home from a two week trip to Colorado to spend an early Christmas with my children and grandchildren. We had lots of fun and I already miss them so much.

Hahaha! I love that it looks like Peter Rabbit is reading a story to Lamb Chop, a teddy bear, and Sock Monkey.
Story time! Too cute.
Love you mommy!

Things sure look welcoming and cozy at your place. I know the thrill of a child getting to come home for the holiday. Our son and family in Texas will not be here. Too far to come for his wife, who hates to travel. HH and I are just not up to going out there anymore. But we will all be together on the Webcam. Blessings of the season to you and family.
